The first version was recorded 25 years ago by various artists including Michael Jackson for United Support of Artists for Africa (USA for Africa) to raise awareness of the famine that was happening in Africa that time.
The second star-studded version was recorded after 25 years in the same studio (A&M Recording Studios now known as Henson Recording Studios) where it was first recorded. The project was produced by the original producer Quency Jones with the song's co-writer Lionel Richie. The song is available for download at the iTune store. Proceeds will go to a foundation that will help the earthquake victims in Haiti to establish a new life.
Some 80 or nearly hunred recording artists lent their voice in making this project possible. Perhaps the best part in this version is the chorus which is still sang by the original voice Michael Jackson accompanied by his sister Janet Jackson.
Download the song now at iTunes to help the earthquake victims in your own little way.
